Tehuantepec is a city located in the southeastern part of Mexico, within the state of Oaxaca, in the region of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Its official name is Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, and it serves as the capital of the municipality of the same name. The city is situated on the banks of the Tehuantepec River and is 100 meters above sea level. It is in a very warm area with little temperature fluctuation throughout the year, with a minimum of 19 ° C in January and a maximum of 37 ° C in the hottest month. The river has always been and continues to be the driving force of agriculture, through irrigation channels. The main agricultural products are sesame, coconut, banana, and mango.
